What environmental project will you create to promote the protection of Mother Earth and why?
I believe that education is the key to solve any problem we have today. Educating young people about the big and little things they can do in their daily lives to save energy and the importance of it will make a difference in how they act and see this planet as they grow up. Therefore one of the projects that I would create would have the purpose of involving environmental education in schools at a very young age.
What makes you proud of your country and what can you promote about it?
What makes me proud about my country is the hospitality, strength and beauty of the people living in it. The Lebanese are among the cleverest people in the world, in addition to being the hardest workers. We belong to 18 different religions, were occupied by over 16 civilizations throughout history, and are still standing strong like the cedar trees that grow on the soils of our wonderful country. Lebanon offers everything from amazing nature and historical monuments to worldclass nightlife and beautiful beach and ski resorts.
Describe your childhood/growing years:
Memories from my childhood are very dear to my heart since they include the moments I got to learn rights from wrongs, values and morals to finally become the woman that I am today. I have wonderful parents who always made sure that I grew up in a stable and secure home and who always supported each step that I took. With both my parents and my two older sisters I had a wonderful childhood filled with great homemade food, music, laughter and unconditional love.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
In addition to all the basic lessons of good morals and ethics, my parents have taught me to always think positive, no matter what situation that I face. One of the biggest lessons that I live by everyday is to always use my fullest capacity to make a change for the better.
What is your most memorable moment?
The most memorable moment so far was the moment when I heard the heartbeats of my big sisters baby during an ultrasound. I was and still am fascinated by the incredible capability of our bodies to create new life.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose it?
One of the essential components of life is water. Pollution and waste dumping in oceans destroy the lives of so many creatures on this planet and clean drinking water is a must in order for us to survive and live a healthy life. We therefore need to educate everybody and especially the children of the world about the difference they all can make to protect our mother earth.
What tip can you share to promote sustainable energy for all?
I believe that if we all change some of the patterns in our daily lives we can make a big difference. These are only a few examples of what we all can do:
· Choose other transportation alternatives than the car (walk, bicycle, public transportation)
· Switch off electronic devices when we don’t use them (this includes unplugging the devices)
· Recycle, recycle, recycle!
· Take short showers
· Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes
· Use energy saving (halogen) light bulbs
Other information that you would like to share with the Miss Earth Management:
Environmental issues are one of the most important issues of our time. I am very excited to join the Miss Earth competition since I know that by this experience I will gain an opportunity to exchange and learn about great ideas from people all around the world which I can bring back to my country and hopefully to the rest of the world.
